A large component of the Pre-Kindergarten programme is the development of social skills for learning. The children regularly find themselves in situations which require them to discuss their ideas or opinions. They are learning that it is often the case that your friends will have a different view to you. Becoming aware of the needs of others is a developmental milestone for this age group and the children are starting to negotiate, take turns and compromise. You may find your child is beginning to voice their opinions more readily, which can be challenging. Keep in mind that this is an important stage of their social skills development and will allow them to become a strong, independent person.
